Development time depends on the size of the website including pages, images, and functionality. It also depends on how quickly the client responds to content requests, reviews, and revisions. Five page business sites can usually be completed and launched within a month.

Absolutely, as long as it’s a self-hosted WordPress or HTML site. Moss Web Works does not work within web builders like Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress.com (the light hosted version of WordPress). If you have an HTML site, we’ll talk about converting it to WordPress for better functionality and ease of use.

We recommend you own your hosting account separately rather than have your web developer host your site. That way, no matter who you work with in the future, you always have access and control. Hosting is usually discounted the first year, then renews at standard rates, typically $2 to $20 per month. Moss Web Works recommends Hosting.com for website hosting and domain registration.

A domain name is your website’s address. Hosting is the server space where your website’s files actually live. They can be purchased from the same company, but they don’t have to be.

Yes, absolutely! A domain name is the first step in branding and creating your site. If you already have one, then great! We can point it to the new site we create for you. If you don’t have one, yet, that’s okay. Many web hosts will give you the first year free for domain registration if you sign up for a hosting plan.

Care plans start at $130/month and include regular software and plugin updates, site speed optimization, backup management, Search Engine Optimization, basic ADA compliance testing and management, uptime monitoring, and one complimentary hour per month of web work (changes or additions). Pricing goes up depending on site complexity, like eCommerce or membership systems. Bundle discounts are available for owners with multiple sites.

You can, and it might work fine for a very simple, single page. But AI tools generate content based on your prompt, not your actual business goals or your local market. They won’t understand your brand story, your customers, or what makes your business different from the one down the street. You’ll also likely hit the same limitations as other DIY builders: templated designs, limited customization, and ongoing fees that add up fast once you want email, eCommerce, or other features. When you work with a developer, your site is built around your actual business goals, not just a prompt.

You need to keep paying for your domain name (billed yearly) and your web hosting plan (also billed yearly). Make sure both of them are on autorenew, and that your credit card is current. I’ve had some clients lose their site because they didn’t pay their hosting or domain bills.

If you have a special paid plugin, like a membership system or a WooCommerce addon, I make sure those licenses are under your name and you will pay those companies directly – usually yearly, as well.

A redesign or refresh would be a brand new look to an existing WordPress website. If you’re not sure whether you need a redesign, we offer a full analysis and review of your current site’s usability, speed, SEO, AIO, and ADA Compliance as a starting point. Chances are, if your site is older than 3 years, it needs a refresh.

Yes, we do offer SEO/AIO/GEO audits for $49, and then will review the report with you to determine the work that needs to be done on your site to make it more accessible to search engines, answer engines, and AI models.
